  12.      Internet Gateway is a web-based tool for administration of network
  13.      services, designed for users with little prior knowledge of the IRIX
  14.      environment.  In addition to allowing you to easily connect your server
  15.      or desktop machine to the Internet, it provides a variety of simple
  16.      remote administration tools.
  17.

  19.      The Internet Gateway web pages are served using a Netscape web server on
  20.      your server or desktop machine. This allows for simple remote
  21.      administration of network services from any UNIX, PC or Macintosh client.

  23.      To access Internet Gateway on your system, enter the following two
  24.      commands:

  33.      replacing <yourhostname> with the hostname of your machine.  For security
  34.      reasons you will be asked to enter the root password of your machine,
  35.      then asked to provide an administration password.  You will then see a
  36.      screen with icons leading to the three sections of Internet Gateway:
  37.      Setup Tasks, Administration and Applications.  All three sections include
  38.      detailed online help.

  40.    SSSSeeeettttuuuupppp TTTTaaaasssskkkkssss
  41.      This section currently contains three separate tasks, or setup procedures
  42.      requiring a number of steps. These are:
  43.  
  44.      Connect to the Internet
  45.         Quickly and simply walks you through the necessary steps of
  46.         configuring your SGI machine for Internet connectivity. Helpful
  47.         descriptions simplify the procedure of configuring Internet IP
  48.         addresses, hostnames, hardware choices and sendmail parameters.
  49.  
  50.      Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol Setup
  51.         Allows you to quickly set up your SGI machine to act as an IP address
  52.         server, automatically adding client machines to your network as
  53.         needed.
  54.  
  55.      Security Setup
  56.         Provides a simple mechanism for reducing security risks posed by some
  57.         default networking behaviors on your SGI machine.  Allows easy
  58.         disabling of RPC services, remote X server calls, SNMP access, open
  59.         user accounts, and a variety of other potential security risks.

  75.      This section allows administrators to easily edit initial configurations
  76.      or reconfigure network services. This section is further divided into
  77.      five configuration areas:

  79.      Information Services
  80.         Configuration of Electronic mail (POP3 and sendmail), Netscape
  81.         information servers, Majordomo mailing lists, Samba file serving, and
  82.         Syntax IPX/IP gateway.
  83.  
  84.      Network Services
  85.         Easy administration of a variety of different network protocols,
  86.         including file transfer (FTP), name serving (DNS/UNS), filesystem
  87.         configuration, Network Information Service (NIS), host address
  88.         allocation (DHCP), resource reservation (RSVP), and routing.

  90.      Security
  91.         Administration of two firewalls: a lightweight filtering firewall, and
  92.         the more comprehensive Gauntlet firewall product.

  94.      Webservers
  95.         Configuration of the Netscape SuiteSpot webservers.
  96.  
  97.      Communications Hardware
  98.         Setup of communications hardware and associated protocols, including
  99.         PPP, ISDN, T1 boards, Ethernet/FDDI, and serial modems.

  102.      This section provides some general information for administrators. There
  103.      are currently three web-based applications:

  105.      Machine Information
  106.         A single page description of the machine's internal hardware.
  107.         Includes information pertaining to the machine's processors, mainboard
  108.         cache, memory, SCSI controllers, Ethernet cards, available disk space,
  109.         etc.
  110.  
  111.      Majordomo Mailing Lists
  112.         A tool allowing users access to information about all mailing lists on
  113.         this server, along with an HTML archive of those lists (if desired).
  114.         Also provides users with facilities to subscribe/unsubscribe to
  115.         mailing lists.

  117.      Session Directory Server
  118.         A unique tool for monitoring multicast session announcements, creating
  119.         announcements and launching multimedia tools to receive multicast
  120.         broadcasts.
